Books You Need to Read Right Now: 7 Fantasy Picks
If you’re looking for great fantasy books to read, you’ve come to the right place. In this blog, I’ll be sharing my top 7 must-read fantasy books.
The Timeless Joy of Reading
Reading is a great way to pass the time, hence why it is perfect for when you are bored on a train ride to school or work, in the hospital, or simply enjoying your free time.
A good book can transport you to another world, immersing you fully in its content. Likewise, it’s a perfect item to pack for a hospital stay or a holiday, providing comfort and entertainment wherever you go.
At least, that’s what happens when I find a good read.
The Fallen Books – by Lauren Kate
BLURB
This is by far my favourite book series!
“Fallen” by Lauren Kate is such an engaging romance, filled with mysterious events and flashbacks, that you can’t help but keep reading to discover what happens next.
When I read it for the first time, I too fell in love with the characters—especially Daniel.
Have you ever immersed yourself so deeply in a book that you experienced everything the main character feels?
That’s what “Fallen” does. You find yourself falling in love, crying, and feeling anger alongside Luce.
It’s a story that pulls you in, making you feel as if you are part of the narrative, living through each moment with the characters.
This deep connection makes “Fallen” a must-read, offering not just a story, but an emotional journey.
The Fallen books in order:
- Fallen
- Torment
- Passion
- Rapture
- If you like a deal, then I would recommend buying them all as a collection (It’s way cheaper!)
The Hush Hush Books – The Forbidden Love
BLURB
This book by Becca Fitzpatrick delivers a gripping tale of mystery and suspense. It definitely will keep you on your toes! (haha)
Nora is an academically inclined student who takes her studies seriously, often being seen as the teacher’s pet. As an ordinary high school student, she deals with common teenage issues like homework, friendships, and fitting in, making her highly relatable to readers.
She struggles with the typical teenage insecurities and struggles, leading to low self-esteem.
However, despite these challenges, Nora still shows remarkable inner strength and resilience.
When I think of the dark and mysterious Patch, he reminds me of the character Cam from the book series Fallen. After reading both Fallen and Hush Hush, I noticed a few similarities between them. Cam, like Patch, is dark, confident, and mysterious, and vice versa.
Is there any connection between them? I’m curious to find out.
Though Patch has the appearance of a dark, tough, and confident “bad boy,” he is not merely one-dimensional.
He possesses depth and complexity, with struggles and inner conflicts that make him more relatable and human.

Dracula by Bram Stoker
BLURB
I just had to include this book into the mix. It is an absolute classic!
I am sorry to say this, but if you are a fantasy book lover, and you haven’t read this book, then you have been missing out!
It is known as the most definite vampire book out there.
Although it is a fictional story, it has some truth within it. The character of Count Dracula is loosely based on Vlad the Impaler (Vlad III), a 15th-century Prince of Wallachia. He was known for his brutal methods of punishing his enemies, which included impalement.
This method of execution is where a person is pierced through their body with a long stake, pole, or spear. Much like how you would kill a vampire.
This book established the blueprint for the classic vampire we’re familiar with today. It defined their sophistication, charm, powers, weaknesses, and appearance.

The Crescent City Books (My favourite is the first book)
BLURB
The Crescent City series by Sarah J. Maas is a must-read if you are a fantasy and romance book lover like me.
The story begins with “House of Earth and Blood,” where we meet Bryce Quinlan, a half-Fae and half-human party girl with a tragic past. Bryce’s life changes completely when her best friend is murdered. This event leads her to seek revenge and uncover hidden secrets in the city.
Bryce’s character fosters a deep connection with readers as she deals with personal loss and finds inner strength.
Her journey intertwines with that of Hunt Athalar, a fallen angel with a mysterious and troubled past. Hunt displays a blend of toughness and vulnerability that captivates readers.
The Crescent City Books in Order:
- House of Earth and Blood
- House of Sky and Breath
- House of Flame and Shadow
- Crescent City Hardcover Box Set
Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater
BLURB
The book ‘Shiver’ is a stunning romance. When I first read it, I was immediately drawn into Sam’s eyes as described in the book.
The way they’re portrayed has a captivating effect, making the romance even more alluring.
I love a book that transports me into a different world. Feeling, seeing, hearing, and smelling the same things as the characters, making the readers feel part of the narrative.
I felt a deep connection to Grace as she reflects my personality. We are quite similar, which allowed me to slip into her character even further.
You can find the book set for only £14.39 Here!
To be honest with you, I didn’t realise there were 4 books. I only read the first two books, which means I am going to have a fun time catching up. Oops, haha.
The Mortal Instrument Books by Cassandra Clare
The book series Mortal Instruments is great for those who don’t have a particular preference for what kind of fantasy book they read. What I mean by that is that, for example, if you like vampires but not zombies, then this book is perfect.
It has a mixture of everything. Vampires, shadow hunters, witches, demons, etc.
It is a beautiful romance, friendship, and bonding book. If you love books, then also watching the films or series is also a great thing to do. The film stars Lily Collins as Clary. And the series reveals so much about what happens after the film.
The mortal instrument books in order:
- City of Bones
- City of Ashes
- City of Glass
- City of Fallen Angels
- City of Lost Souls
- City of Heavenly Fire
The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis
BLURB
The beloved series, starting with “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe,” follows the adventures of four siblings who come upon a magical land through an ordinary wardrobe.
It is a beautiful tale of the battle between good and evil.
Throughout the books, the concept of childhood and imagination plays a significant role.
The fact that only children or young adults are “called” into this enchanted world speaks to the creative and imaginative minds of the younger generation.
Most adults lose sight of their imagination. They start losing sight of the magic they once saw as children.
It’s the way of life.
But that doesn’t mean we can’t be transported into the world of Narnia as an adult. You just need to keep an open mind and be imaginative.
As a child, I never liked reading. However, when my dad found an old looking book titled Narnia, I gave it a go.
We would sit in my room and I would read the book aloud. We never actually finished the book, however it still sits on our bookshelf today.
